About the Business
I know my office can help you, and let me explain why. We are aggressive and well staffed to handle your case. But there are other important reasons why you should call to talk to me. First, my office gives excellent customer service to our clients. If you call my office and need to talk to an attorney, if we are not available to talk to you then, you will have an appointment scheduled to talk to an attorney. We are never too busy for you. Second, every client gets a monthly update letter telling them what has occurred over the past month, what is going to happen in the future, and what we need from the client. These two things by themselves set as far apart from any law firm in the area. Beyond our excellent customer service, the thing that makes us better than other firms is that we have a proven success rate. We get good results for our clients that are facing tough situations. We work the case, prepare hard, and are aggressive against the opposition. I have been practicing law since 2004. I have been successful by treating my clients like valued customers, by not overcharging for my representation, and by aggressively representing my clients. The bottom line is that I will fight for you to get the best result possible. I will treat you fairly and with respect. That is what sets me apart from the other attorneys. Please consider hiring my firm to represent you. If you want to talk to me personally to interview me, please call now.

Mr. Musgrove. I will not remove this rating as requested. I figure if your staff supports you and you guys do well, one review should hold no weight.
I agree with the low ratings for a few basic reasons:
-Mr. Musgrove spoke plenty on his socks not matching and how to not cry while speaking to the mediator.
-He did not cross examine the mediator - my ex-husband's lawyer did.
-When I asked when I would be able to clarify the misperceptions, I was quieted and the time never came.
I'm not going to say not to hire him.
I am curious on his win/loss ratio for single mom's fighting abusive ex husbands. (my situation)Helpful 8Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Gaby:
I am constrained about how to answer publicly because of attorney-client privilege. I cannot discuss your case in specifics.
I can tell you what you can expect from my office when you retain us. First and foremost, we care. We are professional and courteous. That is not just me, that is all of my staff. Regardless of your socio-economic background, we treat all people with respect and dignity. We recognize that if you are hiring us, you are going through a hardship in life. Because of that, we truly want to fight to make your life better.
I can also tell you that throughout the entire process, we do work very hard to prepare for your court hearing. We meet with our clients, work with them on their court documents, and we prepare for the following hearing. After the hearing, we will discuss a strategy with our clients to keep them gaining better results. With that said, no lawyer can guarantee any results because ultimately, it is up to the judge. We work hard, before, during, and after your hearing.
In regards to the question regarding single mothers, we have had many single moms who we have worked with to gain custody of their children when the system has taken them away. We understand how this affects the mothers, the children, and the entire extended family. I am proud of this fact.
If there is any complaint that you have, I would invite you to allow me to solve it. That would mean that we would have to have a conversation. In the meantime, if you could temporarily remove this post to allow us to have a dialogue. If not, I understand. That is what makes Yelp a great tool and is a tool for freedom of expression. However, this will be your choice. I am willing to talk, listen, and try to solve your issue. I just need to be given the opportunity.
I wish you the best.
Cordially,

Attorney Musgrove... With 3 judges and 3 attorneys that looked at my case and all
Of them asked the same questions how you handle my case makes no sense for me to believed what you are trying to simplify here.
I still have your email when I tried to reached out to you and how you shut me down when I asked questions.
I don't need to listen to your explanations anymore for again, even 3 judges and attorneys in Sacramento was very surprised how you handle my case and abandoned it after me not giving you anymore money because of the unknown charges...
In this, I also filed a complaint with your services with ARAG and calbar.
Again... I am not recommending this attorney. He will drained his clients down both emotionally and financially.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Maria:
I have just seen this review and I am sorry for the late response. I think it was in the unpublished section and I missed it.
Let me start to say that I am not going to disagree with you in an open forum like Yelp. That would be impolite and would potentially breach the attorney-client privilege. I will not risk that.
I am sorry for your troubles with your child's parent, and I wish things were different.
I will say that I have a VERY different recollection from your case back in 2015. However, I will not discuss your case in an open forum. I invite you to call and set up an appointment face to face with me. 916-965-4577. Ask for my assistant and an appointment will be made right away.
In general, I also understand that fighting a child custody fight is a heavy emotional burden for our clients.
We fight really hard to do well in Court for our clients. We also work really hard to communicate with our clients so they understand our case. Sometimes, I believe because of the emotions in a custody case, it is hard for a client to hear us and our advise.
Over the years I have learned that it is best to not only have oral communications with our clients but also have written follow up communications that reiterate our advice. That way our advice can be looked at later during a calmer time.
I train my office's attorneys in not just legal theory, but also in customer service. All of my clients can expect to be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect while we fight to make your life better.
Your complaint is an anomaly with the service my office gives on a day to day basis. I wish I could make your situation better, and I am glad you are getting the help you are seeking. Again, since your perception is very different from both my recollection of your case and my office's long-standing commitment to customer service. I invite you to come to my office and discuss your grievance with me in person so we can come to a resolution.

Sean MusgroveMay 12, 2017Previous reviewI retained Sean Musgrove for my divorce and child custody case. He was very accommodating and helpful until he received the retaining fee.
Since then, he failed to file the RFO (which has time limit) and did not show up at the custody hearing and claimed that he used all the retaining fees that I paid him
And he asked me to give him more money.
He just filed 1 thing (exparty hearing) which I also lose the custody of my son.
I tried to contact via phone and email Sean Musgrove but he is now ignoring me.
Until now I am still battling with my divorce and child custody. And finding out what attorney Musgrove did (it's almost 2 years).
Luckily I found one of the best attorney with heart that is taking care of me and my case and looking all the mistakes that Sean Musgrove did.
I am not recommending this attorney or any of his staff to handle your family case. He will just drain your account. And you will loose everything.

Waste of money. They are all nice when they want you to put that retainer down and then their business plan milks that retainer with outrageous attorney, co-attorney, paralegal, admin and Mickey Mouse billing practices. Never use them. I would never ever recommend or use them again. Not only wasted money in the thousands but wasted my time and delayed getting a divorce.

It's unfortunate we have to enlist Sean's office's assistance again for family law, but it gives me great relief knowing we have Sean's office back on my husband's side. Sean is very good at what he does and makes sure to not waste his client's nor the court's time with ongoing nonsense. He sets up a call to talk over your expectations, his expectations (which has ALWAYS included more items we would have missed without him), and then gets to work.
He is well aware of each side's feelings and knows exactly when to put on the pressure and when to pull off the accelerator. If you are reading this (sorry you are in your situation), know it only gets better with Sean's office on your side.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David V.Willow Creek Estates South, Folsom, CA01May 17, 2021Updated review
This is the most winded useless response I would expect to have have heard from your useless office and staff. More jibber jabber on top of the three hour long meetings I had had to have and pay for each of the three court dates I paid to have you represent me with!

Dear David V.:
As an attorney, if you were a client, I would owe you the duty of confidentiality and I would not be able to discuss your case-specifics when responding to this Yelp review.
However, I want you to know that I do take customer service very seriously, and if you are unhappy or feel that you did not receive proper advice and/or representation, I would ask that you call me and set up an appointment.
The rest of this response is just about my office and how we conduct ourselves and how proud of them I am.
There are four attorneys that work in my office. We also have a strong support staff, paralegals and admin, so that we can handle most issues promptly. I am very proud how much my staff, across the board, care about their clients. I find it remarkable that I work with such great people every day.
In response to your complaint above, I want to say that Nicholas Musgrove is an excellent attorney and this is the very first time I have heard of any complaint about him in over five years of working for him. He is a great listener, he cares about his clients, and he works with the client to make sure his cases are done in a cost effective manner. If he didn't have those qualities, he would not be working with me, regardless of our family relation. Luckily, he does have those good qualities I expect in my employees and I feel fortunate to work with him.
Our commitment to customer service is built into our processes. If a client ever calls for an attorney that is working on that client's case, we try to get the caller to the attorney right away. However, if that attorney is not available, meaning in court, with a client, working on a project where they have made themselves unavailable, or out of the office, then we offer an appointment for the caller to call back at a set time. If it is an actual emergency, we find an attorney to triage the problem until the assigned attorney can be available. We do good work.
Personally, I get really upset when I hear of bad customer service, especially in the legal community. Too many times, a potential client calls the office, and they say they do not know what is going on in their case and their attorney never returns their calls. Communication is crucial, especially in a legal situation.
That is why we make appointments with attorneys for clients and potential clients, because, unless we have good communication, how can we help a client? (And by helping, I mean trying to help them with their legal problems and helping them understand their legal problems!) I cannot imagine allowing someone to suffer with the stress of not knowing what is going on in their case by not giving them access to us. The appointments may not be right when you call, but they will be within 24 - 48 hours in most circumstances.
I really hope you call and speak with me directly. If there is something going on in your case that you need help with, I am willing to speak to you and see if there is a path to a solution. Sometimes, that path may be difficult, especially when the other side is lying, but we can get you there. Remember, no attorney can ever guaranty results, but they can work to try to get them. Please call me.

Sean MusgroveApr 15, 2021Previous reviewThis is the worst attorneys that I have ever been to and I've been through a lot of court cases. I only got Sean Musgrove one time out of four and then got his nephew hired help and three other hired helpers the other two times and his nephew is a piece of crap. They ripped me off, charging me a small fortune and I had nothing to show for it. Sean Musgrove works at Roseville. So his nephew Nick Musgrove was supposed to be representing me. He is worthless. I gave him my final unemployment check and he gave it to the judge, and the judge made me move out of my house to give it to my wife after she cheated on me and moved to Washington and came back, made me pay for the mortgage, child support and alimony which The Musgrove's brought up in the first place at the beginning of the divorce hearing. Then after the court hearing I had to pretty much run after Nick Musgrove and he wouldn't take the time to talk to me about what the hell just happened in court and I had to jog behind him talking to him through the court parking lot. Then when I called him that afternoon, Some other new person answers the phone and I said who the hell are you. Then I got to get a notice from the Musgrove's that they're declining my services. Which was a godsend. Do not hire these scammers.

My daughter has been fighting a custody case in El Dorado county for a few years. She has spent thousands of dollars, not counting what it has cost her mentally and emotionally. After years of fighting a losing battle, she found Sean and his team. She has finally seen some results! Her confidence has grown since she has started working with Sean and her anxiety has lessened. Thank you. I know that you will continue to fight for my daughter and granddaughters.

I switched from another attorney to Sean. And it was the best decision ever. His office always replies and doesn't try to drain you for your money. Finished my case and got exactly what I wanted. Sean and his team not only care for your case but also for their clients. Thank you team!!

The entire expierence with Sean was excellent. From Google to an emailed free consultation appointment confirmation. I called at the scheduled time and he was there ready to listen and help. Attentive and extremely helpful. I highly recommend him. Efficient and I didn't feel rushed. I felt comfortable and that I had the floor to speak without being rushed( which is important to me). After I asked all of my questions he made sure I didn't have anymore.
Other offices that I have called won't even talk to you unless you have $495 for their time.
His time and advice was priceless. Thank you so much Sean.
Please set up an appointment you will not be dissapointed.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - angry m.Galt, CA16103Jan 24, 2016First to Review
Sean,
I have been trying to understand this for awhile now, you took my money on January 15, 2016 and said you where going to help me, with my family law case. The only thing that has happened is you have all of my court papers since day one of Court appearances. You stated that you would work with my financial obligations, as of today nothing has been done, never heard of an Attorney not wanting there money before. Was this a ploy " An action calculated to frustrate an opponent or gain an advantage indirectly or deviously; a maneuver: " to copy all of my court papers and notes to give or share with the opposing attorney. No court motions, and or response its left me to wonder. I'm starting to think! This is a conflict of interest!

Dear Angry M.,
I see that you are upset by your posting, however, I am not sure why. I was never retained by you for your Court date even though we offered a special rate to help you out. However, I did review your file, returned your file the next time you came to my office, and I even refunded your consultation fee of $200.00 to you because there was nothing I could do for you based on your situation without my office being retained. We work really hard to take care of our clients and make them happy. I am sorry that you feel this upset even though you never retained me.
In so far as you allege we shared your file with opposing counsel, I am shocked. We work in a very ethical environment and we would never breach the attorney client privilege. I am not sure why you would think this. I understand that your situation is very stressful, however, you can be assured that we will always maintain your confidential information even if we are not retained. If the another person came into our office today and wanted to bring an action against you, we would reject them as a client because I consider that a conflict of interests since you have spoken to me in confidence under the attorney client relationship.
I hope this clears the air. Please call me to discuss what we can do to meet your expectations in the future.
Cordially,

I've been working with Sean's law office since the beginning of the year. Sean is great to work with, being very knowledgeable and professional. My divorce has been ongoing for 8 years now, with a very negative experience with my first attorney. Sean has been very attentive and beyond fair, seeing to it our interests come first and are protected. Thank you To Sean and his very professional team!
